Here is a short explanation of the Ultrasonic Sensor and the Servo:
The ultrasonic sensor sends out sound waves with a frequency of around 40kHZ, the sound waves will travel, bounce off a surface and return back to the Ultrasonic sensor. The time it takes for the sound waves to return determines how far away the surface is. The received signal can be used to activate another part of the system, like a servo. There are 2 types of servo, a 180-degree servo, and a continues servo. In the example, a 180-degree servo was used top operate a sliding door like one found in a grocery store.
