THE TOUCHSTONE

EXPERIENCE

Walk through WCU –

During my walk on the WCU campus, I followed the creek into the park on campus, thrinking about the beautiful environment here and how you dont have to go far to really feel involved in the nature around you. There are plenty of walks and paths you can take around campus that show off just how amazing nature is. Taking in the sounds of the rushing water and birds, the glimmers of light, even the fresh smell of the air, all something truly special. Ive come to love it here in such a short amount of time, which brings me a bit of comfort if i was to ever travel anywhere else, to experience the nature and the environments they have to offer there, and the beauty of the world, no matter what country, city, or even creek you end up at.

FFA Officer Jacket and a Reflection on Leadership –

While in highschool, I got involved in FFA, a national agricutural based organization at each highschool. While in FFA I served as an officer for my chapter, and went to planty of events such Livestock Evaluation Contests and meetings with NC Farm Bureau.

At Western Carolina I have researched some clubs and other opportunities I may want to take or get involved in during my time here, such as the WCU Equestrian Club, due to my interest in animals. There is also the Biology Club, the Pre- Veterinary Club, Whee Love Animals, and Pre- Med Club.

The Biology Club has lots of members, including Amanda Storm, Sunny Himes, Taylor Heatherly, and many more.

FFA Awards –

These are a few of the awards I got with my time in FFA, something that I will always value.

Reflection –

I chose the Study Abroad and Leadership Touchstones because those are the ones I hold most level of interest in. I want to get to know the campus, as well as develope on my leadership skills in order to prepare for a bigger world, and learn about it and myself as much as possible, in order to be able to work with a variety of people in my field. I understand that these touchstones help build on that base of improvement in order to develope as a student and a member of society. You must learn about the environment around you in order to know how to take advantage of it. In the future, I want to explore more on Study Abroad and Leadership, while also looking at research opportunities I need for my major. A message for all imcoming or new Honors students, dont be afraid to try new things, becasue trying new things can help you figure out the kind of person you are, and what you want to do, engage, and interact.
